How to Change the Appearance of a Sectional Couch

Sectional sofas are ideal for big families or households that like to entertain people, whether throwing actual parties or just inviting neighbors over. A sectional couch gives everyone a comfortable spot and offers you the best of both worlds. Its curved shape can include a large group while its huge size allows enough room for private conversations. However, if you think the sectional sofa in your home is making the room look dated, you can manipulate it to easily change its look.

Instructions

    • 1

Cover the entire couch with new slipcovers. This is the fastest fix for a dated couch. The slipcovers will instantly cover stains, torn furniture and vintage upholstery.

    • 2

Pull apart the sectional couch where it makes a right angle. You now have two separate large sections. Set one piece of the sectional aside. Move the other section to a focal point of the room to use as a traditional couch or loveseat. Group upholstered armchairs in a complementary fabric around it. This will update your look, preventing your living room from looking like an overly matched up furniture showroom.

    • 3

Place the other piece of the sectional in one corner and position an accent table and lamp next to it. You've now created a quiet corner for someone who would like to read or do ight work in comfort.

    • 4

Swap out the throw pillows of your sectional, trading them for pillows that have a completely different look. For example, if your pillows are bulky, update them with daintier ones, or, if they're neutral, swap them for bright colored ones.
