How to Fix a Bent Mattress

A quiet room and a comfortable pillow aren't the only things you need for a good night's sleep. As nearly any sleep expert will tell you, a good mattress is crucial for an undisturbed sleep as it supports your head and neck and allows for proper breathing during bed rest. However, just because you have a big crease or in your mattress doesn't mean you have to commit to buying a brand new one. You can reduce the impact of a bent mattress while you sleep.

Things You'll Need

  • Measuring tape
  • Pen
  • Paper
  • Plywood
  • Disc weights, up to 100 lbs.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the dimensions of your bed and write them down. Purchase a sheet of plywood that matches these dimensions. Place the plywood on top of your box spring. This eliminates any general sagginess that may have resulted from the creasing of the mattress.

    • 2

Flip the mattress so the underside of the crease touches the plywood. Turn the mattress so that the bent portion is closer to your feet and legs and away from your back and neck.

    • 3

Place flat disc weights, cumulatively weighing up to 100 lbs. directly onto the convex crease. Leave these on for 24 to 48 hours. Check the crease after the designated time. If it's not significantly reduced, leave it on for another 24 to 48 hours.
