How to Make Tall Flower Arrangements With Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossom has long been a part of the Japanese tradition. Blooming for just a few weeks, the delicate pink flowers are a living symbol of the transient quality of life as states the Buddhist tradition. Creating a flower arrangement with tall branches of blooming cherry blossoms is a wise idea as it allows you to showcase this ephemeral flower. You also don't need to use big bunches of the blossoms as they're individually so robust that just a few of them create the most striking, yet minimalistic display.

Things You'll Need

  • Large, square cut glass vase, 1/3 to 1/2 the height of your branches
  • Floral moss
  • 3 cherry blossom branches, 2 to 2.5 feet long
  • Stones
  • Twine
  • Scissors

Instructions

    • 1

Cover the bottom of each square cut glass vase with 1 inch of floral moss. Position three large cherry blossom branches, measuring approximately 2 to 2.5 feet in length, on top of the moss.

    • 2

Criss-cross the branches over each other delicately. Your goal should be to create a simple, asymmetrical design that looks organic to the blossoms.

    • 3

Scatter a handful of stones on top of the moss, once the blossoms are in their designated position. Use dark stones if your color scheme opts for more darker colors and lighter stones if your decor leans towards more lighter shades.

    • 4

Wrap a piece of twine around near the top of each glass vase and tie it in a knot. Cut away the excess. This will give the display a rustic quality.
