How to Make a Chair Slide on Hardwood

A hardwood floor is a wise choice when it comes to designing your home. Hardwoods are more than just timeless decor choices that are easy to clean, but actually lend a strong sense of effortless elegance to any space. While wood is a strong material, it's not invincible and can show the wear and tear of bumps and scratches just from furniture rubbing up against the wood. Making your chairs slide on hardwood floors is something simple you can do to protect your flooring.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the chair over so the legs are upright. Spray the bottom of each chair leg with all-purpose cleaning spray. Wipe off with a soft cloth.

    • 2

Press a piece of paper against the bottom of one chair leg. This causes the paper to envelop the bottom of the leg. Remove the paper and straighten it out. The circular indentation indicates how big each felt pad needs to be.

    • 3

Cut out your paper indentation. Trace it four times on a piece of felt. Cut out each piece of felt.

    • 4

Add a generous dab of industrial-strength wood glue to the bottom of each chair leg. Press each felt pad to the bottom of each leg and tape in place to provide a makeshift clamp.

    • 5

Give the glue an hour to set. Remove the tape and place the chair upright. The felt pads should not show.
