DIY Fabric-Covered Wallboard for a Jewelry Organizer

If you've ever dug around your jewelry box looking for a particular necklace or bracelet, only to find it jumbled and tangled up with a mess of other jewelry pieces, you know how important it is to keep your jewelry well organized. This can be difficult with traditional jewelry holders, as they don't give most pieces enough room to keep from getting tangled. Luckily, you can use your creativity and ingenuity to make your own wallboard jewelry organizer.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a sheet of cardboard and cut it down to the size you want your jewelry organizer to be, using a box cutter. For example, standard sizes are 2 feet by 18 inches.

    • 2

Dip a 2-inch brush in the oil paint of your choice and cover the cork board in a light coat of paint. Allow it to dry overnight.

    • 3

Cut a piece of sheer fabric such as lace or chiffon so that it's 2 inches longer and 2 inches wider than the dimensions of your cork board.

    • 4

Place the fabric face down on a flat work surface. Place the painted cork board face down on the work surface. Pull the edges of the fabric over the edges of the cork board and staple them in place with a stapler. The fabric should look taut over the front of the cork board when finished.

Outfit the cork board with a frame and hang the frame from a hook on your wall. Attach your jewelry to the cork board by threading the end of a pin through the hole in each piece's clasp and then pushing the pin into the top of the cork board. The jewelry will hang there nicely.
