Purchase a wall mount football helmet case or a shadow box with an opening that is at least 12 1/2 inches by 9 inches by 9 1/2 inches, so that it will fit a standard-size football helmet. Hammer two wall mount brackets into the top-back edge of the wall mount case or shadow box. Use painter’s nails to attach the brackets to the back of the case or box.
Carefully place the helmet inside of the wall mount case or shadow box. Close up the shadow box or wall mount case cover.
Use a stud finder to locate the sturdy wooden beams inside of your wall. When you find a spot on the wall in the area where you want to hang the helmet and which coincides with a stud, mark that spot with a pencil. Measure the distance between the two mounting brackets on the back of your case or box. Measure that distance on the wall and make a second mark along the same line as the first.
Run the stud finder over both marks to ensure that both are marked where a stud lies. Hammer a size D nail into each mark until 1/2 inch of the nail sticks out from the wall.
Hang the case or box containing the helmet by its mounting brackets on the nails. Preserve the helmet from dust and damage inside of the case, and mount it safely on your wall for a decorative touch to your sports or game room. Purchase additional helmet cases, locate spots around your room where studs lay and mount the helmets there until all your helmets are hung.
