Princess Palace

• Decorate the room with a royal theme in mind. Use a palace wall decal or paint a castle mural on the wall with rolling green hills, blue skies and a palace with pink or purple accents. Use bedding with a princess themed print or try a luxurious royal purple comforter. Mount a crown-shaped canopy over the bed to hang sheer curtains on either side of the headboard.

Girly Garden

• Create a colorful garden bedroom with whimsical flowers and garden critters. Paint a faux garden scene on the wall or use a vinyl wall decal to create the same effect. Paint rows of dirt and pastel-colored flowers with simple shapes, such as tulips and daisies. Paint and hang a small section of picket fencing on the wall or use miniature picket garden edging to create a border around the entire room at chair rail height. Hang mirrors down the length of one wall, at chair rail height, as well as a ballet barre for in-room practice. If you're re-doing the floors, consider laminate that looks like hardwood, as it will fit the studio theme. Hang ballet slippers over the headboard and trim the curtains with the same color ribbon that the ballet slippers are laced with. Hang photos of famous ballerinas in full concert attire or photos of your own ballerina in all of her dancing glory.

• Opt for the classic girly style in the room. Cover the walls in a paisley printed wallpaper to set the color scheme and pull accessory and furniture shades from the detail colors of the wallpaper. Dedicate areas of the room for tea parties, dollhouses, stuffed animals and dress-up play. Meld together a few of your daughter's interests such as her favorite animal, television show, color or activity. Include special interests such as dance, reading or crafts.
