How to Decorate Loft Stair Space

Paint the wall beside the staircase a color different from the rest of the room. Using a different color turns the staircase wall into an accent feature that highlights the stair space. Bright colors such as yellow and light blue open a stair space; more intense colors such as red add richness.

Set a potted plant at the base of the steps. Tall grass or a fern will work with the loft's contemporary decor. A plant vase that is a solid color or clear has simple lines for a contemporary look.
