Repaint the walls with high-gloss paint, using a paint brush and paint roller. Use dark-colored high-gloss paint in the bathroom if the room gets a lot of natural light during the day. Dark colors can make a bathroom look smaller, but dark colors are very easy to clean. If the room gets a lot of natural light during the day and you have ample lighting for the evening, using a dark color won't cause any problems.
In many bathrooms, high-gloss paint is only used on the baseboards and the trim around doorways and windows, but in a bathroom that gets a lot of regular use, high-gloss paint is beneficial since it is easier to clean (using a mixture of soap and water and a clean sponge). Also paint the baseboards and the door and window trim with high-gloss paint since they are touched frequently.
Replace natural tile and stone with composite quartz or part man-made products like Silestone. These types of tile are considerably easier to clean, and they are scratch and heat resistant, which will give them a longer life in a heavily used bathroom. If possible, use a warm color that will hide footprints and dirt.
Remove large decorative items like cabinets, and replace them with wall racks and shelving to make the room feel less enclosed. Heavy clear or frosted glass shelving is ideal for a small bathroom because the glass will have less of a visual impact within the space.
