How to Figure an Arch Doorway

Arch doorways give your home a soft look, and they open up the space significantly. However, if you want to put any further work into the doorway, whether it is a door or simply a small amount of trim, you will need to figure out the measurements. The arch at the top of the doorway makes getting a true measurement difficult, so take the measurements that you need and send them, along with a template, to the company cutting your trim or your door.

Instructions

  Measure from one side of the doorway to the other, and record this measurement on a piece of paper.

  Measure along the side of the door from the place where the curve of the arch starts down to the floor, and record this measurement.
- 3
  Measure the full height of the doorway arch from the center of the top to the ground, and record this measurement.
- 4
  Subtract the measurement you found in Step 2 from the measurement you found in Step 3 and record it, as well. These are the measurements that you need to deliver to any trim or door manufacturer, to get the products you need.
