How to Hide Tile Cuts on a Backsplash

A tile backsplash protects the walls while also giving your kitchen or bathroom a classical, elegant look. After installing the tile, however, you may find that the cut tiles around the edges give the backsplash an unfinished look. To hide the tile cuts, use threshold trim or reducer trim as transitions between the tile and the wall. Both threshold trims and reducer trims come with an undercut that fits to the tile well.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the edges on the tiled backsplash that you want to cover.

    • 2

Cut as many pieces of threshold trim or reducer trim as you have edges to cover. Use a saw to cut to the measurements recorded in the previous step.

    • 3

Bevel the ends of each piece of trim to 45 degrees -- wherever they need to fit together -- using a miter saw.

    • 4

Paint or stain the trim as desired.

    • 5

Apply a thin coat of epoxy adhesive to the back of one piece of trim. Fit the trim to the corresponding edge. The undercut in the back of the trim will cover the edge of the cut tile completely and neatly. Repeat for the rest of the backsplash.

Allow the epoxy adhesive to cure for 24 hours.
