How to Attach Christmas Lights to Brick

Hanging Christmas lights on a brick wall can be a challenge. You could drill an anchor screw but this results in long term damage to the brick. By using a brick clip, it is possible to hang Christmas lights without causing damage to the brick. Brick clips attach securely with a spring loaded mechanism that has an easy release to prevent damage.

      Measure the area where you plan to hang the Christmas lights. The total linear footage is necessary to determine how many brick clips to purchase.

      Measure the size of the bricks. Standard bricks measures between 2 1/8 inches and 2 1/2 inches wide and a standard brick clip will fit these bricks. For larger bricks it is necessary to have the exact size so you can purchase the correct clip.

      Purchase brick clips from your local hardware store. Bring the brick and linear footage measurements.

      Attach the brick clips an equal distance apart along the length of the area you want to decorate. Press the brick clip firmly against the brick to attach to the wall. Each clip is spring loaded and should stay in place while on the brick. The closer the brick clips are the more secure the lights will be.

      Hang the Christmas lights on each brick clip. The top of each brick clip has a small hook that holds the strand. Start at one end of the wall and string the lights one brick clip at a time until you reach the end of the area.
