Ideas for How to Decorate Small Artificial Christmas Trees

Use small artificial Christmas trees to decorate tabletops, entryways or any area of your home that needs a touch of holiday cheer. Small artificial trees also make wonderful bedroom accents for kid's rooms and can be reused year after year. The small stature of these mini trees means they won't take a long time to decorate and that you won't have to spend a lot of money on decorations. You can use decorations intended for miniature Christmas trees, or you can repurpose other items to use on your tree.

Things You'll Need

  • Battery powered miniature Christmas tree light set
  • Batteries in the correct size and quantity to power the lights
  • 3 feet of 1/2-inch wide metallic ribbon trim
  • 1 inch metallic bows with twist ties
  • Miniature Christmas ornaments, smaller than 1 inch
  • Assortment of costume jewelry or other small decorative pieces (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Place the tree on a flat work surface. Adjust the branches if needed to create a pleasing shape.

    • 2

Insert the batteries into the battery compartment of the lights and turn the lights on.

    • 3

Wrap the strand of lights around the tree, starting at the bottom and working your way to the top. Tuck the strand into the branches to secure.

    • 4

Wrap the metallic ribbon around the tree, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Place the ribbon far enough into the branches that it will stay securely.

    • 5

Attach the metallic bows to random branches using the twist tie backs. Distribute the bows evenly around the tree.

    • 6

Attach the mini Christmas ornaments to the tree with the wire or loop hangers they come with. Distribute the ornaments evenly around the tree for best results. If desired, attach glittery costume jewelry pieces like earrings and necklaces for extra sparkle. Display your tree wherever you need a touch of holiday charm.
