How Do I Tablescape a Dresser?

Tablescapes can adorn more than just a table. Carry the theme of your table throughout your entertaining area and give other surfaces the tablescape treatment. By creating the decorations on other surfaces, you bring more festivity to the occasion. It also adds another layer of attention to detail, something that guests are sure to notice. Create tablescapes with items you already own in addition to purchased items. Some sources for supplies include craft stores, antique or consignment shops and party stores.

Things You'll Need

  • Dust cloth
  • Same or similar decorations as used on main table

Instructions

    • 1

Clear the dresser of any items that will not be used in the tablescape itself. Dust the dresser thoroughly.

    • 2

Lay out the base of your tablescape. This is the piece that other objects are placed on. For example, if you are using a snowy white tablecloth on the main table, use something similar here. If you don't have another tablecloth, you can use a sheet folded to the correct size or buy a piece of white fabric.

Arrange the other decorative items on your base layer. Start with larger items, whether they are topiaries, vases of flowers or other items. Place medium items next, such as figurines or delicate bowls. Add the smallest items next to finish off the decoration.
