DIY Vintage Looking Wreath

Spoil your guests and loved ones with a vintage wreath. Hung on a door, displayed in an entryway, or showcased above a fireplace mantle, a vintage wreath will add warmth and nostalgia to any home. This project can be completed in less than an hour and is even more affordable when you gather foliage and herbs from your yard or garden. Aged velvet ribbon, old buttons, vintage postcards and other notions from days gone by found at thrift stores, flea markets and antique stores will add the authentic feel of a wreath that has been gently handed down over the generations.

Instructions

    • 1

Feed heavy gauge wire through the back of the wreath form, twisting the ends together to make a secure hanger.

    • 2

Cut the stems of the foliage, dried flowers and fresh herb, leaving enough length to tuck them into the wreath form. When necessary, strip the lower portions of the stems to attain sufficient length.

    • 3

Add the foliage, dried flowers and herbs in a random fashion for visual appeal.

    • 4

Affix the foliage, flowers and herbs in place with a hot glue gun. Avoid getting any glue on the front portions of your project.

    • 5

Add such embellishments as dried berries and fruit, old buttons and vintage postcards for an added layer of color, texture and shapes. Secure each item with hot glue.

    • 6

Make one or more ribbons from gently worn velvet ribbon. Apply them to the wreath with hot glue or affix them with wire that has been fed through the knot at the back of the ribbons and attached to the wreath form. Twist the wire to secure the ribbons in place.
