Do It Yourself Dinner Party Table Centerpieces

If you have cooked over a hot stove all day to prepare a beautiful dinner for your guests, you don’t want to serve your food on a less-than-perfect table. A nicely set table will show your guests that you have gone the extra mile to give them a pleasant dining experience. If you have some time while dinner is cooking, make an underwater centerpiece for the center of your table. These centerpieces are placed in glass vases and are visible from all seats at the table.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the bottom of a clear, tall vase with decorative glass rocks. For a medium-sized vase, fill the bottom with about two inches of stones. Adjust this measurement if you have a larger or smaller vase to work with.

    • 2

Cut the stem of one of your favorite flowers: orchids, roses, hydrangeas and pretty much any other flower that isn’t too delicate will work. The stem should be cut so that the entire bloom can fit comfortably into the vase with a few inches to spare at the top.

    • 3

Insert the bloom down into the vase and secure the stem in the rocks at the bottom.

    • 4

Fill the vase with clear water. Be careful to fill the vase slowly so that the petals on the flower stay intact. Fill about one inch from the top of the vase.

    • 5

Top off your centerpiece with a floating candle on the top. Make sure that you light your candle when the guests sit down to dinner.
