How to Make Shabby Chic Rolled Fabric Flowers

If you love the shabby chic style, which features distressed material and furnishings with a soft, feminine flair, design coordinating decor items as a finishing touch. Rolled-fabric flowers are simple to make and add plenty of shabby chic style to your home. As an eco-friendly touch, use leftover fabric scraps to make the flowers rather than purchasing new material -- the worn character of the repurposed fabric adds to it shabby-chic appeal. You can use the flowers to decorate wreaths, pillows and other textiles around your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose cotton fabric featuring shabby-chic inspired colors, such as pastel pink, mauve, cream, sage green and rose red. Cut the fabric into a 2- by 30-inch strip.

    • 2

Lay the fabric strip out on a flat work surface. Apply a line of fabric glue down the middle of the strip.

    • 3

Fold the fabric strip in half vertically. Press down on the folded strip to create a secure hold.

    • 4

Starting at one end and working your way to the other, begin rolling the fabric strip up to create the flower. Create a tight roll and apply a dab of fabric glue at approximately 1-inch increments. Complete the roll by gluing the end of the strip to the flower.

Glue a faux pearl to the center of the fabric flower to complete the project.
