Instructions

    • 1

Create a workspace located near an electrical outlet. Plug in and secure the hot glue gun. Place newspaper on the workspace surface to gather vine trimmings and to protect the surface from hot glue drippings.

    • 2

Clip the individual grapevines into workable lengths approximately 24 inches long for a standard length swag. Cut vines accordingly to create a longer swag. Use the shears to trim away any damaged or broken pieces of vine.

    • 3

Gather several grapevines together. Add additional vines, as needed, to create the desired thickness for the swag. Secure each end of the swag with a rubber band to hold the vines in place.

    • 4

Encircle one end of the swag with the tape measure to determine the width. Cut a piece of floral wire at least 2 inches longer than the actual width.

    • 5

Place the floral wire around the swag next to the rubber band. Pull the wire tight so it holds the vines securely; twist the two ends of the wire together. Use the shears to bend the excess twisted wire over to prevent jabbing. Repeat the process for the other end of the swag.

    • 6

Secure and support the grapevines by attaching floral wire at 6-inch intervals along the entire swag base. Cover the floral wire with a snippet of vine measured, cut and hot glued into place over the wire.

    • 7

Cut a piece of floral wire. Attach the wire at the top of the swag, creating a loop. The looped wire serves as a hanger for the swag. Use a piece of ribbon in lieu of floral wire.

    • 8

Decorate the swag with assorted leaves, fruit, flowers, bows or ribbon. Use the shears to trim stems. Hot glue the decorative items onto the swag.
