Take a piece of brightly colored Dupioni silk fabric and cut it into 2-inch wide by 10-inch long strips. Cut them on the diagonal because the fabric curves better when the flower forms.
Bring the fabric to the sewing machine. Set your machine to sew the longest length stitch and sew that stitch right down the middle of the fabric. Pull the thread on the stiches you have just sewn so that the silk fabric bunches and gathers.
Pinch the center of the bunched area to create the flower. Pull the opposite side to create petals. Wrap the thread around the center and then tie that thread in a knot so the flower can maintain its shape.
Glue your flowers to a pillow or any other object that you want to decorate.
