Decide on the colors and flowers you want to make up your arrangement. Hobby shops, craft stores and even second-hand stores are great places to shop for artificial flowers.
Cover your foam base with moss. This way, the foam won’t show through your arrangement. If you are creating a large arrangement, you can even place foam at the bottom of a pot or vase using some glue. Floral clay can be used for larger and heavier flowers. It is more stable and able to handle the weight of the flowers.
Take the flowers in your hand or place them in an empty vase and make a bouquet or arrangement. Arrange the flowers, using the larger flowers at the bottom. Move them around, rearrange over and over. Try adding some greenery in different places until the bouquet is what you would want in an arrangement. Try to keep a shape in mind, whether you want the arrangement in a pyramid shape or rounded all the way around.
Cut the ends of the flowers according to the shape of the arrangement you decided upon. You may have to cut them one at a time, depending upon the thickness and the type of wire cutters you have.
Place the flowers in your base one by one, placing the larger flowers first. Fill in around the base or bottom and continue until you reach the middle. Fill in all the space but try not to bunch them too closely.
Use greenery as fillers until your arrangement is nice and full. You can rearrange them, but be careful when using the foam base. You may also choose to use baby’s breath as filler.
