Orient the wreath to determine which end will become the top and bottom of your project. Lay the wreath on a tabletop or hang to begin creating the project.
Hold up a fall or Halloween themed floral garland around the front of the grapevine to determine the length you will need. Generally, garlands come in 4, 5 or 6-foot lengths.
Cut off any excess garland, but don’t leave yourself short. It’s always easier to trim a bit later than to piece it back together if you need more.
Begin at the top and work your way around, clockwise, holding up and squeezing a pea-sized bead of hot glue onto the back of a leaf from the garland. Firmly hold the glued leaf in place on the grapevine until it sets (about 10 seconds).
Continue hot gluing approximately every 3 inches around the wreath until you reach the top again. Cut off any extra garland and be sure to secure the end with hot glue.
If desired, attach a pre-formed fall bow to the top center of your wreath. This can hide the start and end of the garland. Allow the ribbon to trail down as far as you prefer. Cut off any excess ribbon in a diagonal line to avoid fraying.
Consider attaching a fall or Halloween themed ornament to the top center of your wreath so that it hangs down at least 2 to 3 inches. Be sure to choose an ornament that is appropriately sized to be visible from a distance, but not too large that it extends beyond the wreath borders.
Consider attaching a fall or Halloween message sign or pick to complete your wreath. A pick can simply be stuck into the grapevine on either the right or left side of the wreath. A hanging sign should be hung either in the center of the bow or from the top center of the wreath in place of an ornament.
