How to Make Underwater Floral Arrangements

Fresh floral arrangements are a great way to add a beautiful touch to your home decor. Underwater floral arrangements are especially eye pleasing. The color of the flowers will give the water in the vase a soft hint of color and the flowers will appear larger and fuller underwater. Choose fresh flowers from your garden to put on display on your dining or coffee table. Follow these steps.

Instructions

Select the flower. Clip off any excess leaves leaving only a few leaves on the stem or remove all leaves if desired. Cut the stem so the flower fits inside the vase. The flower should sit approximately 1 inch from the top of the vase.

    • 2

Cut a 5-inch piece of floral wire. Wrap the wire around the bottom 1-inch of the flower stem leaving about 2 1/2 inches hanging below the stem. Wrap the excess wire around a round stone to secure the flower--this will keep the flower from floating up in the water.

Place the stone and flower inside the vase. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 if wanting to add additional flowers to the vase. Do not add too many flowers. Alternate the height of flowers if adding more than one flower to the vase. As a decorative option, you can add glass stones to the bottom of the vase if desired. Be sure to add the glass stones before placing the flowers in the vase. Place the round stone on top of the glass stones.

Pour water into the vase. Keep the water level about an inch from the top of the vase. Put fresh water in the vase about every two days.
