How to Make Silk Flower Decorations

Buying silk flowers instead of real flowers is an ideal way to save money on a wedding. Making your own silk flower decorations cuts the expense of a wedding, and they actually look just as beautiful. Another benefit of silk flowers, rather than real ones, is the option of using off season flowers in your decorations.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an assortment of silk flowers with long stems at any home and fabric store. You can buy 12 silk stems of the same type and color such as Dutch tulip, or you can mix up small and large lilies, hydrangeas, and one stem of Queen Anne's lace.

    • 2

Place the silk flower stems in a vase. The vase can be round or square, clear glass or colored. Make sure it is at least 8 inches tall.

    • 3

Arrange the silk flowers so the larger blooms are in the center of the vase, and the smaller blooms surround them.

    • 4

Inter-mix some silk baby's breath and a few stems of silk greenery within the silk flowers. Flower decorations do not need to be real in order to look real.

    • 5

Tie a complimentary colored ribbon around the vase and tie a simple bow.
