How to Design a Silk Flower Arrangement

Silk flowers are a life-like alternative to real flowers. The advantages of silk flowers are low maintenance and expense when compared to live flowers. They do not require water. They also do not wilt and turn brown. If they are changed every couple of weeks, people do not usually notice that they are silk. The use of silk flowers is a way to capture the beauty of outdoors and bring it inside.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your basket in cool soapy water to wash off any dirt and dust. Blot dry and let sit for an hour to finish drying.

    • 2

Cut a block of floral foam to fit inside the basket. Take a glue gun and lightly glue the bottom of the foam to the bottom of the basket. Only two small dabs should work because you want to be able to remove the foam later when changing arrangements.

    • 3

Start with the tallest of the flowers and arrange them in the floral foam. Poke all the flowers into the foam.

    • 4

Take your silk greenery and start filling in the gaps. Start at the edges of the foam and work your way to the center.

    • 5

Rearrange any flower that looks out of place. Just pull it free of the foam and place it in a new position. Trim the stems of any flowers that look too tall. Check to see that the arrangement follows a nice arch like a semi-circle.
