Uses for Fake Plastic Trees

Artificial silk or fake plastic trees are useful for brightening a home or office without requiring all the maintenance of the real potted tree. Coming in all different shapes, sizes and colors, there are several reasons and uses for fake plastic trees.
  1. Decoration

    • Take your time selecting the tree(s) you want, as some can be more affordable than others, and take into consideration how realistic or fake the tree looks.

The main reason people buy fake plastic trees is for decoration. A fake tree can provide color and style to a room whether it's an office or your living room. With varying types from topiaries to red Japanese maples, and even wisteria that will show a perpetual bloom, the right fake tree can fit any décor.

    Placement

    • Usually a fake tree can be placed in any unused corner of a room or along a bare wall. Often, fake plastic trees are placed near a window or glass door to recreate a natural look even though the plants do not require any light. Use fake trees to soften a small room to make it appear cozier or as a filler when it looks like a room needs more furniture.

    Privacy

    • Another way to use fake plastic trees is to group a set of similar trees together and create a privacy screen. By setting three to four trees in a row along the back of a couch or love seat, you enclose the area in front of the couch, making it more intimate. You can also use the trees to separate workspace areas in a home office or in a large family room to give the illusion of walls.

    Creating a Natural Look

    • As you arrange your tree or trees, be sure to attempt to create a natural look as though your artificial plants were real houseplants. Place smaller bonsai trees on your desk, as a centerpiece in your dining room, or fill a sunroom with different varieties. Decorate your trees if you wish to suit the holidays, such as adding orange lights around them for Halloween, hanging hearts from them during Valentine's Day, or sticking small flags or ribbon in between the branches for the Fourth of July.

    Care

    • The best thing about using your fake trees is that you don't have to water, feed or worry about your plant. It will never look wilted or die off from neglect. The only thing you'll need to do to care for your trees will be to occasionally dust them with a feather duster or wipe the leaves with a damp cloth.
