Flowers That Make the Home Smell Good

Of the thousands of types of flowers around the world, the most beautiful and sweet-smelling are lilacs, dianthus, gardenia, jasmine and Oriental lilies. These flowers can brighten your home and make it smell delightful.
  1. Lilacs

    • Depending on where you live, lilacs can bloom for up to six weeks. Take advantage of this time and clip some to bring inside. Lilacs come in a variety of colors, usually purple and white.

    Dianthus

    • Dianthus are commonly referred to as carnations and are a great decoration for a family room. They mostly commonly come in pink and white hues.

    Gardenia

    • Gardenias are white and yellow flowers that are most recognized for their sweet scent. Gardenia jasminoides is a house plant that needs warmth to grow, and it can reach up to 18 inches high.

    Jasmine

    • This flower genus is native to tropical regions and usually grows on fences or chicken wire. Jasmine opens up only at night, so when you bring them indoors, let them cool in the fridge during the day and put them out before bedtime. You'll wake up to a fragrant home.

    Oriental Lilies

    • Oriental lilies are common wedding flowers, usually in shades of white or pink. Consider using them in a table centerpiece.
