How to Make Tulle Floral Picks

Floral picks are versatile tools used in making floral arrangements, centerpieces and wreaths. A standard floral pick is 6 inches long and has a wire extending from one end of the pick for attaching flowers or other décor. Once you have attached the décor of your choice, insert the pick into your floral creation as desired. Make a beautiful floral pick out of tulle to fill in empty spaces in a centerpiece or wreath.

Things You'll Need

  • Wooden floral picks (see Resource section)
  • Three pieces of tulle (4 inches by 8 inches)
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Wire clippers

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the tulle rectangles and stack them together, matching sides and corners.

    • 2

Hold the tulle rectangles together in one hand and fold the rectangles in half lengthwise. Gather the folded edge of tulle together so that it twists tightly into a point.

    • 3

Take the floral pick and hold it so the end with the wire is next to the twisted tulle.

    • 4

Wrap the wire from the floral pick tightly around the twisted tulle to attach the floral pick to the tulle. Continue wrapping the wire around at least five times, making it as tight as you can. Trim off any excess wire, if necessary.

    • 5

Fluff the tulle that extends out from the floral pick. Pull the tulle out so the layers are fluffy and stand out from each other.

    • 6

Insert the floral pick into the wreath or centerpiece. Fluff out the tulle to fill in the space among the floral arrangement.
