Place the flower frog in the bottom of the container. A bit of floral adhesive stuck to the bottom keeps the device from moving and potentially scratching the container.
Re-cut the stems of the plant material on an angle before positioning on the frog. This allows the plant to draw in more water.
Establish the focal point. Beautiful arrangements have a center of interest, such as a tall flower spike, a striking bloom or an interesting branch or stem.
Draw an imaginary line from the top of the arrangement to the bottom of the container, then another from side to side to help determine the shape of the arrangement. Most arrangements fall into three categories: asymmetrical, triangular or rounded. Adjust the flower frog if necessary.
Working from side to side, fill in with the other flowers and materials, using just enough to establish the desired shape. Good fillers include smaller blossoms, unopened buds, berries, foliage and ornamental grasses.
