What Flowers Can Be Grown Indoors

Growing beautiful flowering plants indoors is not difficult. There are a variety of flowers that thrive in the low-light conditions found in most homes, apartments and offices. Choose the right plants and you will have a successful indoor flower garden.
  1. African Violet

    • The African violet is a hardy plant that seems to thrive on neglect. It needs little light to bloom and remains relatively small, the tallest reaching about 10 inches, making it ideal for smaller spaces.

    Peace Lily

    • The peace lily is a low-light-loving plant that does well in offices and apartments. Blooming year round, its lightly scented white flowers will last for several weeks.

    Bromeliads

    • Bromeliads adapt well to less-than-perfect indoor growing conditions. These plants bring colorful exotic looking flowers into your home or office.

    Christms Cactus

    • The Christmas cactus, being a cacti, requires little attention. Needing more than 12 hours of continual darkness to bloom, it will flower indoors during the darker winter months.

    Other Options

    • Common shade-loving flowers such as fuchsia, begonia and impatient will bloom indoors. Place the flowers in small pots around your room for an added splash of color.
