How to Mount Dried Flowers

You can mount dried flowers inside a picture frame, on a homemade greeting card or inside a 3-ring binder. You may want to keep flowers for sentimental reasons--like a wedding bouquet--or just to record the types of flowers you found in a specific area. A few of the flowers that will look the best after mounting are daisies, geraniums, cosmos and snapdragons. You can also mount leaves and greenery such as leaves, ivy and different species of ferns.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange the dried flowers and greenery on the poster board or tag board. It is necessary to find an arrangement you like before you glue. Once you glue down the flowers, you will not be able to change the arrangement. Try placing flowers on top of the greenery.

    • 2

Glue down the flowers and greenery in the exact positions you want. Any glue that seeps from under the flowers will dry clear.

    • 3

Place the heavy nuts or bolts on the corners of the flowers and greenery. This will keep the flowers in place while they dry.

    • 4

Allow the glue on the dried flowers to dry for 24 hours.

    • 5

Cut out a piece of contact paper 1 inch larger--on each side--than the poster board or tag board.

    • 6

Peel the back from the contact paper and center it over the poster board. Lay the contact paper over the dried flowers, once you lay it down do not pick it back up. You will rip the dried flowers and greenery.

    • 7

Rub over the contact paper with the side of a wooden craft stick. This will ensure you do not have any air bubbles in your arrangement.

    • 8

Fold the excess contact paper over the back of the poster board or tag board.
