How to Create Silk Floral Arrangements

Silk floral arrangements make heartfelt gifts and add accents to your home environment. They also provide indefinite longevity as opposed to perishable fresh floral arrangements. Making silk flower arrangements at home allows you the ability to mix and match a variety of silk and artificial flora and foliage elements to create stunning one-of-a-kind pieces for a variety of occasions. From festive themed arrangements to exotic and romantic arrangements, making these pieces at home is a creative and inspiring endeavor for even the novice craft enthusiast.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a bundle of about 20 small-blossomed silk flowers into the vase, or basket, of choice. These small flowers serve as a sort of cushion in which the large flowers of the silk bouquet will present themselves. Small silk flowers include silk baby's breath, artificial cotton blossoms, lilac sprigs and a plethora of others. Explore your local craft stores to become inspired.

    • 2

Place about six large, colorful silk blossoms randomly throughout the billowy arrangement of small silk blossoms. Such large artificial flowers include magnolia blossoms, silk roses of a variety of colors, silk daisies and many more.

    • 3

Place some accent foliage around the outer edges of the arrangement to add splashes of green amongst the floral backdrop. Such silk foliage can be English ivy vines, silk grape vines, silk decorative pampas grass or eucalyptus.

    • 4

Add finishing touches to the silk arrangement. You can tie a colorful silk ribbon into a bow around the basket or vase, or you can spray glitter spray adhesive over the surface of the silk blossoms for a shimmering effect.
