Layer four or more pieces of tissue paper, alternating colors if you have used more than one color. The order in which you layer your tissue paper will be the order of colors in your blossom.
Cut your tissue paper into 8-by-12-inch rectangles. You may use larger or smaller pieces of tissue paper to create tissue paper flowers of different sizes. If you use different measurements, make sure the aspect ratio stays the same (for example, use 4-by-6 rectangles or 24-by-36 rectangles) to ensure the blossom is shaped correctly when it is complete.
Fold the layers of tissue paper accordion-style. Make sure the edges stay flush while you are folding. Once your tissue paper is folded, you may choose to round the edges with scissors.
Center your folded tissue paper on a pipe cleaner. Tightly twist the pipe cleaner around the paper. Using the pipe cleaner as a center point, bring both edges of the folded paper together.
Pull the bottom layer of tissue paper downward. Tissue paper tears easily, so pull gently and slowly. Once the bottom layer has been moved, continue the process with subsequent layers until each piece of tissue paper is unfolded from the group.
Layer two pieces of green crepe paper. For added effect, you may use two different shades of green and more than two layers.
Cut your crepe paper into 12-inch strips. Trim each end of your crepe paper into a point for a leafy effect.
Place the center of your layered crepe paper strips beneath the tissue paper blossom and wrap the pipe cleaner around it. Although crepe paper is delicate and may tear, secure it tightly with the pipe cleaner.
Wrap the remaining ends of the pipe cleaner around your garden stake. When the pipe cleaner is completely coiled around the stake, tape the ends to make sure it is secure.
