Instructions

  1. Folded Petals

    • 1

Cut out six uniform fabric circles, about the size of the end of a spool of thread.

    • 2

Fold one of the circles in half twice and sew it through the bottom. Repeat this step with the other circles.

    • 3

Connect the folded circles at their corners by sewing them together--each folded circle will be a petal in a folded flower.

    Silky Flower

    • 4

Trace a series of circles graduating in size from small to large on a piece of silky fabric.

    • 5

Cut out the circles. Fold and unfold each one a few times to wrinkle them.

    • 6

Hold each one a few inches over an open flame, rotating them to expose the edges rather than the broad sides; be careful not to burn them. This causes the edges to wrinkle and curl.

    • 7

Stack the circles with the largest on the bottom and the smallest on the top. Sew them together through the middle.
