Trim flower stems with wire cutters to fit the basket. Alternate stem length on the flowers to give the arrangement depth--use longer stems for the largest blooms, medium-length stems for the next largest blooms and short stems for the smallest flowers. Keep the arrangement short and wide because dried flowers tend to look thin and sparse.
Fill the bottom of the basket with pebbles or gravel to give the basket stability.
Cut a piece of floral foam to fit snugly into bottom of the basket. The foam should fill at least half of the basket.
Choose the flowers that have large blooms and place them in the middle of the arrangement. Space the flowers close together in the center of the basket.
Add medium-size blooms next, arranging them to surround the large flowers.
Place the smaller blooms around the medium-size flowers.
Check the basket from all sides periodically to avoid clumps of blooms in one area or open spaces. The basket should look good from all angles.
Insert stems of baby's breath into the arrangement for filler.
