Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut a 2-foot length of 1 1/2- or 2-inch-wide ribbon. Stitch a running stitch along one of the long edges of the ribbon as close to the edge as possible. A running stitch, or basting stitch, is a simple, straight stitch with each stitch about 1/2 inch long.

    • 2

Tie a knot in one end of the ribbon as close to the end of the ribbon as possible.

    • 3

Hold the thread at the opposite end of the ribbon from the knotted end. Bunch the ribbon along the thread by pushing it toward the knot. The ribbon should start to curl around the knotted end. Help the ribbon along to create a flower with the knot in the center surrounded by the gathered portion of the ribbon.

    • 4

Fold down the short end of the ribbon diagonally toward the bottom of the flower once all the ribbon is gathered. Sew a few stitches through all the layers across the bottom of the flower to hold it in place.

    • 5

Trace a quarter on a piece of matching felt with tailor's chalk. Cut the circle out and glue it to the bottom of the flower to cover the stitches. Further secure the flower with hot glue.
