Creative Uses for Grapevines

Grapevines are a popular decorating foliage that are versatile for any season, and the garlands can be fashioned into a number of home decor items. The simple, rustic elegance of a grapevine easily blends into any home decor style. Real grapevines can be dried and softened so that they can be molded into a craft project or you can purchase silk grapevines from a craft store. These can also be purchased with faux grape bunches attached to them.
  1. Grapevine Chandelier

    • Put a new twist on lighting with a grapevine chandelier. Create a wreath out of grapevine and suspend it horizontally from the ceiling with rope or chain. You can add additional decorations according to the season, such as holly berries for Christmas or pumpkins for Halloween. Carefully attach small tea lights on top of the wreath and light them for a rustic glow. Wrap Christmas lights through the foliage for a longer glow.

    Grapevine Monogram

    • Decorate your front door with a monogram letter fashioned from grapevine. You should first find a font and size that you like. Use floral wire to create a frame that matches the letter. Carefully wrap the frame in several strands of grapevine until it is completely covered. Hang it on your front door with a beautiful satin ribbon.

    Nests

    • Birds and nests are trendy home decor items, as of November 2010. Grapevines can be used to create authentic-looking bird nests. They can be used to display Easter eggs, small soaps or trinkets, or they can sit alone. A nest can create a woodsy or natural feel to your home. Consider accenting the nest with hand-painted eggs or a faux bird.
