      Position the stencil against the pot in the location you want to create the design. Use letter-shaped stencils to create a message such as "#1 Teacher" around the pot. Choose a whimsical apple design or a pattern to reflect the teacher's interests, such as flowers or dogs.

      Dip a small paintbrush into acrylic paint and use it to fill in the stencil, which will transfer the design to the pot. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry.
