How to Dry Roses for Potpourri

Making your own potpourri is a good way to preserve and make use of flowers that are at the end of their bloom. Some flowers are more appropriate for making potpourri than others and roses work very well. Drying roses for potpourri takes very little time and effort.

  • Fresh rose petals
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper or paper towels

      Look for roses that are in full bloom but have not yet started to fade.

      Cut the base of the bloom from the stem with a pair of small, sharp scissors.

      Spread the petals on a piece of newspaper or paper towels. Place them in a warm, dry location. After a few days, they should be sufficiently dried to use in potpourri.
