Place the wheatgrass seeds into a bowl. Cover them with water to submerge them completely. Soak the seeds for 12 hours.
Line a colander with cheesecloth to prevent the seeds from slipping through the holes. Drain the seeds in the colander and then rinse them off with cool water. Allow the seeds to drain completely.
Add potting soil to a seed tray to fill it 3/4 of the way full. Dampen the soil with water, but avoid soaking it with too much water.
Place the wheatgrass seeds onto the surface of the soil. Sprinkle soil lightly over the seeds, but avoid packing the soil down over the seeds. Cover them with 1/8 to 1/4 inch of soil.
Water the wheatgrass seeds with a spray bottle to dampen the soil. Cover the seed tray with clear plastic wrap to retain the moisture. The seeds will sprout within five days.
Remove the plastic wrap from the seed tray once the seeds sprout. Place the tray in a sunny location to encourage them to grow. Continue to keep the grass moist.
Allow the wheatgrass to reach 6 to 8 inches tall. Cut out sections of the wheatgrass into various shapes such as circles and squares or simply transplant all of the wheatgrass at once. You can place them inside cups, vases and decorative flowerpots that are filled with potting soil. Add items like polished stones and marbles to the wheatgrass container to add a decorative touch.
