How to Make Roses With Gift Tissue

Real roses are expensive, as far as fresh flowers go, and will eventually wilt. Make your own roses from inexpensive strips of tissue paper for a rose that could potentially last forever. Use tissue paper roses as part of a centerpiece, as a bouquet to give to a friend, or as part of a different craft project all together. Each rose will only take a few minutes to make and is simple enough that a school-age child can take part in the craft.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a small loop at one end of your green floral wire by bending the last 1/2 inch of wire with round-nose pliers. This will be the top of your rose's stem.

    • 2

Fold your piece of tissue paper in half lengthwise. Crease the fold with your hand.

    • 3

Begin wrapping the tissue paper around the top of your green floral wire, tightly at first to create the bud of the rose, while simultaneously wrapping the base of the flower to the stem with green floral tape to hold the two together. Keep wrapping the tissue paper around, making the wrap gradually looser to form the outer petals of the rose, while continuing to wrap the base with the floral tape until the entire length of tissue paper is wrapped.

    • 4

Continue wrapping the green floral tape around after the tissue paper is finished working your way down the floral wire to finish the stem of the rose.
