How to Make a Forget-Me-Not Silk Flower

Tiny clusters of blue, pink or white flowers dot the forget-me-not plant. Traditionally known for the five-petal, light blue flower, the plants grow as perennials or annuals. Replicate the circular shaped petals with wire and fabric for silk flower projects. Choose to make the true-to-size tiny blossoms or a larger version. Silk forget-me-not flowers are useful in craft projects, millinery decorations, corsages, wedding pieces and floral designs. Make silk forget-me-not flowers from fabric remnants or ribbon pieces.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut several 1-inch pieces of wire using a ruler and wire cutters.

    • 2

Form a small circular shape with a piece of wire. Wrap the ends together and make a twisting motion three times to secure them. A small circle or loop with a tail of wire, similar in look to a leaf with a stem, should be the result.

    • 3

Wrap a small strip of silk fabric or ribbon over both of the rounded sides of the circular wire. Tie the silk at the bottom of the twisted wire piece. Set the petal aside. Wrap the remaining wire loops with silk and tie the pieces in place.

    • 4

Cut a piece of 6-inch piece of 18-gauge floral wire with wire cutters. This is the stem of the silk forget-me-not flower.

    • 5

Hold the wire tails from five of the silk-covered wire petal loops against the top of the piece of wire. Space them evenly around the wire and hold them in place with one hand.

    • 6

Wrap the wire tails with floral tape to tightly secure them to the 18-gauge wire stem. Wrap the tape on a diagonal approximately 1 1/2 inches down the wire stem.

    • 7

Dip the tip of a hollow, refillable ink pen into yellow acrylic paint. Press the paint against the center of the silk forget-me-not flower. Allow the paint to dry before using the silk forget-me-not in a project..
