How to Make Layered Felt Flowers

Spend a rainy day making felt flowers or teaching your children to make felt flowers to embellish all sorts of different items. Once your felt flowers are done, you can attach them to pin backs to use as lapel pins, sew them onto tote bags, glue them to the cover of a notebook or use them to embellish scrapbook pages.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 felt sheets in different colors
  • Ruler
  • Disappearing ink fabric marker
  • Scissors
  • Shank button
  • Needle
  • Thread

Instructions

      Draw a 3 1/2-inch-wide four-petal flower on one color of felt. Draw a 2 1/2-inch-wide four-petal flower on a second color of felt. Draw a 1 1/2-inch-wide four-petal flower on the third color of felt. Cut out all the flower shapes.

      Stack the felt flower shapes with the largest on the bottom and the smallest on the top, with the petals of each flower laying on top of the spaces between the petals of the flower below.

      Place the shank button in the middle of the top flower in the stack. Sew the button in place through all three layers of felt flowers with needle and thread.
