Red & Silver Wedding Decoration Ideas for Tables

Red and silver work well together if you want to make impressive centerpieces for a wedding reception. Red flowers are romantic and silver containers appear to be expensive. Your guests will not realize that your centerpieces were inexpensive and easy to make. Instead, they will admire tables that are contemporary and stylish.
  1. Containers

    • For your containers, use tall glass vases. Spray them with metallic silver paint. If you have enough sources, borrow silver-plated vases and pitchers instead. You can also cover a glass vase with silver glitter. If you choose this option, make sure you apply the glitter to the outside of the vase as the water will damage it. Secure a piece of florist's foam oasis in the tops of your containers. This will anchor your flowers.

    Flowers

    • You have several choices of red flowers. Roses are the most traditional wedding flowers, but they are also one of the most expensive. Red carnations are economical and have the advantage of being long-lasting. Arrangements with carnations could be made a couple of days in advance and still look fresh for the reception. In the spring, red tulips are in season. Cut your flower stems to about 6 inches (15cm) and insert them into the oasis. They should form a tight mound. Leave out the flower that would sit in the center of the arrangement. Place a red glass votive candle holder with a battery-powered tea light in this spot.

    Candles

    • Candles give a romantic feel to an event and especially for a wedding. Place your candlelit arrangement on a beveled mirror in the center of your table. Arrange red glass votive holders with candles on the mirror. This will reflect the light. You can substitute clear glass containers with red floating candles.

    Rose Petals

    • Scatter a generous amount of red rose petals over the mirror and the table. This will add a cohesive look to your table arrangement. The red petals and silver would be especially effective against the background of a black tablecloth.
