How to Decorate With Broom Grass

Broom grass isn't just for brooms. Known as broom sedge, this tall grass with the hairy top is found in most of the eastern United States. It is considered an invader grass, although some nurseries grow it ornamentally. Rarely noticed in the summer, the plant boasts orange and copper hues in the winter that warm up roadsides.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut bunches of broom grass and place them in tall vases with other flowers or on their own. They add height and interest to any flower arrangement.

    • 2

Tie two bunches of grass together at the ends with a big ribbon, so that the seed heads are on both sides. Place it as a decoration lengthwise on a long table or on a mantle.

    • 3

Place bundles of broom grass in the ties of your curtains, to add a touch of autumn to a room.

    • 4

Lay bundles of broom grass on countertops or as the base of a cornocopia filled with other fruits and vegetables.

    • 5

Glue broom grass to a piece of cloth or paper to create a grass mat for a wall collage.
