How to Arrange Lilies by Color

Lilies are large flowers with long, tapered petals. They grow from bulbs and come in many colors, although the Blue Egyptian water lily is the only blue lily. These flowers make wonderful flower arrangements and complement each other and their many colors. The large flower size makes a vase look full, but some greenery can be added to the vase for extra color to make the arrangement look finished.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange lilies of one color range together in a vase. For example, choose Bright Diamond lilies, which are crisp, vivid white, and pair them with Sweet Surrender, a creamy white rose. According to designer Vera Wang, the monochromatic color scheme is a modern choice in floral arranging.

Choose complementary colors when arranging lilies -- such as pairing the big, white Casablanca lilies with the smooth, ruby red Razzle Dazzle lily. Always choose at least one color that is cool and one that is warm.

    • 3

Select all warm colors to make a lily arrangement. Yellow Whoppers pair well with the red-edged Giraffe lilies. If warm colors don't appeal, select all cool colors such as Bright Diamond lilies with the white and green Ice Cave lilies.
