How to Attach to a Concrete Ceiling Without Drilling

Concrete ceilings are often found in basements and have a much harder surface than a typical drywall ceiling. As a result, it’s often necessary to drill a hole for concrete anchors when you wish to attach an item. If something is lightweight, there are other less cumbersome methods of attaching things that don’t involve the mess that drilling leaves behind.

Things You'll Need

  • Wood
  • Urethane glue
  • Ceramic tile adhesive or tile mastic
  • Sticky tack

Instructions

Attach a piece of wood to the concrete ceiling that’s thick enough to accommodate the hanging hardware for your objects by applying a layer of urethane glue. Cover the entire surface of the wood with the glue and press it to the concrete ceiling. Screw your hanging hardware into place after the glue dries. This method works for lightweight objects, such as small framed pictures hanging from wires and eyehooks mounted to the ceiling.

Attach tiles to concrete ceilings by applying a layer of ceramic tile adhesive or tile mastic to the back with a notched trowel. Press the tile to the concrete. Cover the entire concrete ceiling or place several tiles around for added visual interest.

Attach temporary items such as lightweight paper party decorations to the concrete ceiling by using sticky tack. Roll it up in a small ball, attach it to the back of the decoration and press onto the concrete ceiling.
