How to Grout Solistone Pebble Tiles

Solistone pebble tiles are used for a wide variety of home improvement projects, from creating a striking entranceway to a shower floor. The tiles are initially laid on a slim layer of thinset and allowed to dry for approximately 24 to 48 hours before the grout is applied. The grout provides a protective layer that fills the gaps between the pebbles -- creating a smooth, comfortable walking surface. Prepare your Solistone pebble tiles before applying the grout to create a uniform, clean finished appearance.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the Solistone pebble tiles according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Let the thinset dry for at least 24 hours, then cover the pebble tiles with a thin layer of stone sealant. The sealant prevents the grout’s color from staining the pebbles.

    • 2

Allow the sealant to dry for at least 24 hours before applying the grout. Prepare the grout according to the manufacturer’s directions and load the product onto a grout float. Apply the grout in sweeping motions, and be sure to work the product between the individual pebbles.

    • 3

Allow the grout to dry for at least 20 to 30 minutes before removing the excess product with a plastic brush. Work the brush over the pebbles to remove the majority of the extraneous grout from the tiles.

    • 4

Dampen a kitchen sponge with plain water and wipe down the tiles to remove the remaining grout. Once the tiles are clean cover them with another layer of sealant. Allow the sealant to dry for at least 24 hours before stepping on the pebbles.
