The Best Flooring to Use in High Traffic Areas

There are a few different choices for flooring in a high traffic area. High traffic areas include places such as waiting rooms in doctor's offices or hallways and foyers in homes. There are choices that will work for nearly any application.
  1. Short Loop Carpet

    • Short loop carpet is a heavy duty indoor-outdoor carpet. It is looped onto the backing and made out of a man-made material. Its sturdiness and various colors make it a staple for offices and waiting rooms in businesses.

    Vinyl Tile

    • Vinyl tile is a good option in a heavily trafficked area. It has the advantage of coming in several different patterns and styles. It is a good tile to choose when you are dealing with an area that can get wet. Areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and entryways are well-suited for this material.

    Wood Flooring

    • Wood flooring comes in a couple of different forms. One is the pure wood flooring which is small planks of wood that are nailed to the subfloor. These are very permanent floors and can last for years. You can buy them new or used. The other is the laminate wood flooring which is a composite material with a wood laminate glued to the surface. It locks into the other floor boards. Laminates need to be used in areas where there will be little moisture since this will cause the surface to peel.

    Ceramic Tile

    • Ceramic tile is a very durable tile and is often used as the primary flooring material in restaurants. In the home use it is a great selection for a bathroom floor. It is waterproof and provides a very upscale look to a room. It is easily cleaned with soap and water.
