Care of Tigerwood

Tigerwood is a type of exotic wood logged in South America. Predominantly used for flooring, tigerwood is desired for its tan to reddish-gold shading, and striated tiger-like markings. Tigerwood, won't splinter or warp like some hardwood flooring, such as oak. However, great care should be taken to prevent scratching, since no hardwood flooring is impervious to scratches. To ensure the longevity of tigerwood, simple methods will help maintain its appearance.

Instructions

    • 1

Place felt protectors on the legs of your furniture, advises Eco Timber Flooring. You should do this prior to positioning your furniture on the floor.

    • 2

Use area rugs to protect your flooring, especially in areas of high traffic. Use area rugs specifically designed for hardwood floors.

    • 3
      Clean your floors.

Sweep and vacuum your tigerwood regularly. Hardwood floors should be vacuumed with a soft bristle brush attachment, advises the Floorfacts Flooring Guide.

    • 4

Clip your pets nails when they become long. Remove your shoes prior to entering your home and try not to wear shoes in your home.

    • 5
      Avoid allowing liquid to settle.

Clean up liquid spills as soon as they occur. Allowing liquid to seep into tigerwood can cause the wood to absorb the moisture, eventually leading to damage.
