  Hide the exposed beam by installing a layer of stone or tile over the wood. Cover the wood beam with a layer of mortar and press the stones or tiles into place. Faux stone panels provide a lightweight alternative to organic materials.

  Hide the exposed beam by creating a fabric ceiling. Cover the entire ceiling or just the area around the exposed beam. Measure the area and obtain a piece of fabric large enough to cover it.
